Wellness Boost

Drink this within 30 minutes of physical activity and it begins rehydrating at the cellular level, reduces muscle soreness, and lowers exercise-induced inflammation. For those in Kenya's heat — coastal, highland, or urban — it is also the daily hydration ritual that makes drinking enough actually pleasurable.

How to Prepare

  1. 01

Combine coconut water and water, heat gently to 78°C. Add cardamom and pandan, steep 1 minute. Add teas, steep 3 minutes. Strain, stir in honey and salt. Serve warm or chilled over ice.

Expert Tip

For maximum potency, always use freshly brewed tea. The antioxidants (anthocyanins in Purple Tea and EGCG in Green Tea) are most bioavailable when the brew is fresh and consumed within 30 minutes of steeping.

Green Tea + White Tea + Oolong Tea Hydration · Electrolyte Balance · Muscle Recovery · Anti-Inflammatory Coconut water — not plain water — is the brew base here. Harvested from the palms lining Kenya's Indian Ocean coast, coconut water contains potassium, magnesium, sodium, and phosphorus in ratios that closely mirror human blood plasma. Clinical research confirms it is as effective as commercial sports drinks for rehydration. Brewed into it: green tea's EGCG, proven to reduce muscle breakdown; white tea's catechins, which lower the post-exercise inflammatory response; and oolong's L-theanine, which supports nervous system recovery. Cardamom is a bronchodilator used historically as a post-exertion tonic. The pinch of salt replenishes sodium and activates cellular fluid retention. Honey speeds glycogen replenishment in muscle tissue.
